He measures 48" by 54", a nice sized crib quilt.
The white fabric has small pink dots. I was rather disappointed that the fabric was rather blah. I added a flange binding and the aqua fabric added some zing to the outside edge and woke up the dots!
I sewed leftover fabric together to make the backing.
Now I can go check this project off the list.

I love spiral quilting. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNice job! I love how modern the traditional churn block feels in an oversize scale, with the spiral quilting!
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat - maybe later in the year I can try it on a lap quilt! You are really perfecting this technique!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting and I think that a tiny newborn would fit right in the middle of the churn dash before he or she grew a bit ! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great baby quilt! The giant churn dash looks awesome! I do like your flange binding and the spiral quilting makes it super fun!!! Well done!!
ReplyDeleteI really like that with the off-center spiral quilting! It's pretty amazing how much something as small as an added flange can perk things up, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHa great minds! Mine is spiral quilted too! I like your offset version. Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!
ReplyDeleteI like pieced backs. Adds interest and saves having to purchase fabric specifically for the backing (if you have enough left over.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting gives it such a nice texture! Well done!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the quilting, I love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteI like the flange binding. I need to remember to try that more often.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this super-sized Churn Dash!! Oh, the quilt math it would take for me to figure out something SEW clever!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Gretchen,
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful quilt. I love the contrast between the straight lines of the piecing and the curves of the quilting. And I have a weakness for tiny spots, too.
Thank you for linking up with Free Motion Mavericks!
