The purple embroidered quilt has been quilted and the binding attached. Calico Point did the machine quilting.
The quilt measures 96.5" square.
The quilting is a Baptist Fan design.
I embroidered these 12 blocks years ago. To make the quilt square four appliqued blocks are the corner blocks.
The sashing design is the same design I used in the Radiant Blues quilt, it just makes blocks pop!
The pattern for Radiant Blue(s) is found in the January/February 2007 issue of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting.
It would have been nice to hand quilt this quilt but that takes time.
This quilt is the first complete finish of the year.
Here is a prior post about this quilt.
Last week I posted about a pattern for the Wiggly Whimsy quilt. A commenter left a link to the pattern, here it is!

Oh! It's breathtaking, Gretchen!!! And the Baptist Fan quilting design is just perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things that I like about this quilt! The embroidery, the appliquéd extra blocks, the fabric, the sashings, the panto! This quilt came together perfectly and beautifully, Gretchen. Moda Bake shop was a resource I used often until they changed the format. I found it wasn’t as user friendly and quit using it. I’d like for it to go back to the old format. There’s my grumble for the day!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how beautiful! You are right, that pretty sashing makes the blocks pop. It's a brilliant quilt, gorgeous work.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! The sashing and borders really make this quilt shine.
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt! And you are so right, that border and binding just make the blocks pop off the background. You've also taught me something! I am a huge fan of RubyBlue's quilting but absolutely did not know of her designing and making quilts.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first 2026 finish - what a beauty she is, too! You are so right, that is such a good sashing treatment - it's no wonder you used it again.

ReplyDeleteCongrats on a finish. What a gorgeous quilt and I do love the sashing design. I also like the pieced border tying the light purple with the darker border. ~Jeanne
