A Little Quilting This Week

Not much hand quilting was accomplished this week. I had a piecing project I was excited about, that received first priority.

How much quilting?

The right outside border.

The right half triangle, a pieced triangle and partially quilted triangle. That's it!

Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

The hand quilting is coming along nicely. At least you did some stitching on it this past week.

I always get excited about piecing projects. Now that Christmas break is here and WINTER has set in for sure, I will piecing my little heart out. Happy stitching!

Any progress on a big project is better than none.. and sometimes you need to have a week where you give your fingers a rest and piece something or do something different... thanks for sharing your progress on this quilt... it is an amazing piece too!!! Kathi

You do such pretty hand quilting. What brand of batting do you use?

Looks absolutely delicious! Your stitches show so beautifully.

I started using wool batts for hand quilting several years ago. For this quilt I'm using a Hobbs Tuscany collection wool batt. What is especially nice about this batt is it was neatly folded then packaged. It didn't have those bulges that rolled batting has. I'm sticking with this type now. I buy my batts through Connecting Threads when they're having a 30% off sale. Thanks for commenting!

Wool batting has other advantages too. It resists burning, unlike poly batts which bead up if burned, and will stick to you if there is a fire in the house and you use a quilt that has a poly batt. No matter if wet or dry a wool bat is more comfortable than cotton any day.

Beautiful as always, and you still got way more done than I did! I love how that wool bat shows off your beautiful quilting.
