Tulips & Quilting

I've been working on the tulip wall quilt this week. I think she's going to make a lovely spring wallhanging. Three of the five sets of tulips have been completed.

These blocks are set on point so I took the picture that way. Edith and Janis did such a great job pulling the fabrics for this kit.

I want to get the hand work completed so I can send her to the long arm quilter. I'm not even considering hand quilting this one, too many layers of fabrics.

I took it easy hand quilting this week. Row 3 of the churn dashes has been quilted. I forgot to take a picture before I rolled, but the quilted churn dash blocks look the same as the other times I've shown you before.

I did go to the center of the row and quilted the new quilting design. It looks a little off center, but it's OK. I don't think you'll notice when the quilt is out of the frame and, as I have often said, perfection is over rated at times. Hopefully next Sunday I'll be able to show you all the white squares in this row are quilted.

Your hand quilting looks so lovely. I wonder how you plan to quilt your nearly insane blocks.

Those tulips are looking much more tulippy (!) now you've turned back the edges, it will make a lovely Spring Quilt. As ever your hand quilting is beautiful.

I don't know how I'm going to quilt Insane yet. I'll probably do each block individually like I did Jane. I just tell myself to just get the blocks pieced and think about hand quilting it later.

Thank you. I can't believe I had forgotten about this project.

Your blooming tulips are ahead of the ones in my garden which are just peeking out of the soil. Beautiful hand quilting too!

Thank you. I find when I start quilting it is hard for me to stop. Then I get sore fingers and can't quilt for several days.

Tulip quilt is a perfect spring project. I understand why you worked on it this week. May I as is it curved piecing or applique?

Love the tulips! Oh my...what a gorgeous wall hanging that will be!

They were folded triangles. I rolled the edge back into the curve and stitched it down. The curve isn't sewn to the bottom square. I can put my finger under the curve. This was a fun project.

What a beautiful tulip wall hanging. We are still waiting for our tulips to bloom, so it is fun to see your quilty ones. I just took a glance at your Block 18 post from the Insane quilt. That is insanely wonderful!! (Paper piecing swoon going on here.) Good call on making it all in blue. It's really striking against the background.

I'm glad I'm inspiring you with my quilting. The best hand quilting tip I can share is keep your stitches even whatever the length. Thanks for stopping by!

Hey, thanks for linking up at BOMs Away. The tulips really do look nice when you see several of them done up, don't they? Such a small change, but a difference! And yes, perfection is completely over rated - I had to actively look for the off-centeredness to see it. :)

I'm sure the quilting will look just fine.

Gretchen Weaver said...

I'm not worrying about it. When the quilt is out of the frame, it own't be noticeable and as I say many, many times, perfection is overrated! Thanks for stopping.

The tulip wall hanging is finished now and at the long arm quilter. I am so excited to see her when she is completely finished!

Thank you.

Wow, the tulip block is stunning! Even if someone else picked the colors, you did a good job on the piecing!
